Sunny Again

Today is sunny once again.

Our great helium-fed star once again pierces through,

Wasting clouds with its fierce rays,

Lighting my world, my revolving world.

I well understand why our ancients revered and feared the sun,

I well understand how skirted Aztec and Mayan priests could

Swell up with righteousness as they gave the order

To sacrifice the round yond virgin on their altar of stone

To appease this most potent god.

This sun is much neglected when it comes to praising creation,
