The Ibises

The horizontal line of white far in the field

Led me to think that this line of white

Could be white ibises, and

So it was.

A large flock mainly of adults, but

With a fair number of mottled grey young

Was feeding in the horse field

Probing and picking at whatever lives after rain.

The sun was hiding.

The flock was far in the grass, but

I took around eighty shots,

Moving slowly toward them

On the ground of the after rain.

Then they flew.

Not due to my moving toward them, but

Due to some cue given by the giver of mysterious cues, and

Wheeling white and mottle grey against the grey morning

They settled at  another spot

To probe and pick again.
