Holy Saturday Sky, 2013

We returned from the evening service.

To be greeted by the heavens.

The moon would not rise for another hour.

We moved under a dome of light.

Awe overcame us.

We were possessed by the night’s beauty.

Dwelling in awe for a time,

We knew reverence, peace, and calm.

Of course, we knew

That the lights we saw was old light,

Having left its star much before our birth.

Of course, we knew

That the light we saw was our kin,

That we, too, were elements.

Of course, we knew

That while this night would turn and leave

That we were at a high point of our lives.
