La Fête de La Musique

In France the summer solstice means something.

In La Place Wilson in cities all over France,

Musicians, good, bad, and indifferent,

Will take out their instruments and play.

They will shamelessly celebrate the coming of summer,

The end of spring,

The great earth’s current turning upon its axis.

While they play, they will drink wine,

Good, bad, and indifferent, and

They will joyfully reflect upon their music and their lives, and

They will call upon all the earth to celebrate this life.

When the night begins to end, and

The wine begins to tell upon the musicians’ brain,

They will stop, put up their instruments, and

Will shamelessly return to their homes.
