Will We Have Hurricanes This Year?

Will we have hurricanes this year?

Will the rush of primal fear

Smash our regular order?

Will the sky, which can be so benign,

Turn upon us and become a grey-black menace?

Will we lose power,

Forcing us to return to wonder

About all we take for granted?

How will be manage our batteries

Our light, our freezers, our radios, and our food?

Will we regret over and over again

That we did not prepare?

High winds, tornadoes, lightning strikes—

Will we have them this year?

It is already late July. 

There is hope that we will be passed by.
