Friday Photography

On Fridays I practice the challenging art of photography,

Going to the local lakes, camera armed, looking out

For subjects to shoot.

My Nikon’s sensor bounces a speck of light

Against the elephant ear’s green fibers, and

Upon its return to the camera

Informs the focusing mechanism

To beep when the focus is fixed.

A bird, turtle, or fly

Neighbors the elephant ear, and

I catch their color encased in light.

On Fridays I practice the art of photography, and

Marvel at the beauty and complexity

Of elephant ear, bird, turtle, fly, and

How their beauty and complexity

Relate to the beauty and complexity

Of camera, light, color, eye, and brain.
