Grandparents’ Day

We go to Grandparents’ Day,

Cherishing each event,

Marking it down as a deed well done.

At Grandparents’ Day

The pupils walk in their school uniforms

From the school to the church—

Disciplined, innocent, loved.

In church we sit with our grandson.

His other grandparents are with us.

We love the mass,

The homily pitched to the fifth graders,

But filling the grandparents’ hearts.

It is a homily about God’s love, and

How we in our lives are called to reflect

Love.

After the mass,

Doughnuts and sugar-free pound cake,

Tempt us all.
