The Moon Overhead

When I walk out into the pre-dawn moonlight,

In these days of late September,

The moon is directly overhead.

It is difficult to see, but

I know that it is at half-moon,

The boundaries sharp, the craters defined.

This prompts the thought of a good telescope

With an eyepiece adjustable to any angle,

Permitting an easy view of the moon.

Permitting, perhaps, some pre-dawn photography,

Permitting me to collect boundaries sharp, craters defined.

I will wait for next month’s moon, and

As it rises over my eastern fence

I shall have the easy view,

Permitting a collection of boundaries sharp, craters defined.
