The Republic and the Tea Party

Tea party members and their allies, are, indeed anarchists,

But are ignorant of it.

They have come out of the past, a whirlwind,

Seizing the delicate republican arrangements of our institutions,

Insisting on their own way.

Tea party members and their allies, are, indeed revolutionaries.

But they are ignorant of it.

They refuse to let the institutions work,

Unless they work toward their anarchistic ends.

Better to default on the national debt, they say,

Thann to have universal health care.

Bettery to bring the republic down,

See it crumble,

Than to promote the general welfare.

Ignorant, ignorant, ignorant—

For when the republic crumbles,

It will crumble for them.
