First Sunday of Advent

Get ready.  Stay awake.

Look for what is real. 

This world is passing. 

Look for what stays.

Now is the time for us to be wide-eyed. 

Stop. Take an accounting of your life.

The Christ Child is coming.

He will be born once again in the makeshift manger,

Lying there in his manger,

Blessing the straw with is presence.

Once again he will challenge us to become more like him,

To become more vulnerable. 

But not yet.

Not yet.

Now is the time for waiting. 

Waiting and watching.

Get ready.  Stay awake.

What comes will astound you.
