A Prayer for Calm

It is right to give thanks and praise,
And we do give thanks and praise.
From the innermost core of our beings,
We give thanks and praise.

But our ties to you--or religion--
Involves also our constantly asking you,
O great and good Creator of all things,
To continue to shower us with your inestimable gifts.

Today we ask for calm,
The gift of quiet peace at the very center of our being,
That we may better appreciate our wondrous selves
And that we may better appreciate your wondrous creation.

But most tof all we ask for calm during this morning of seeking your truth,
That we may leave this place and time more noble than when we entered.
