Prayer for Understanding
06.21.04


O Holy Spirit, you have given us the gift of understanding,
And you have given us an abiding thirst for truth.

We ask today that these gifts be renewed within us
So that we will see the truth in the questions confronting us.

May we have the strength of intellect
To satisfy this thirst with which you have gifted us.

We pray for humility.
We ask that you help us deal with one another
With a spirit of gentleness, openness, and true candor.

We pray that your Holy Spirit enlighten us today
So that we, the people of God, will indeed be
The salt of the earth and
A light brightly shining upon a hill.
