Prayer

O great Creator of all things,

We humbly come before you,

Confessing our complete dependence upon you--

Struggling still with your gifts

Of faith and curiosity. 

 

We give you glory and praise,

Thanking you for your glorious creation--

Asking you to strengthen our grasp

Upon the ways you would have us live—

Asking you to enlighten our minds—

Asking you to bless us with gentle patience.

 

We ask you to guide us in these short weeks of study

To a deeper appreciation of the proper place

Of our faith in our social and political lives.
