A Note On the Basket

[Jerry Dubroc]

Mom (Mae) told me that the basket was given to her mother (Elizabeth C.Turner Bolnar) by someone who lived on the bayou named "Grandma Hamilton."

Mom said that she thought that it had been made by an Indian and was either given to Grandma Hamilton or purchased from them by her. She never knew the exact story of how Grandma Hamilton came by it.

Mom said that her father (Charles Henry Bolnar) had given it to her and that it was a keepsake from them.

I asked her who Grandma Hamilton was and she said that she wasn't any relation, everyone just called her that.

Mom was very young at the time and I guess it wasn't important to know why she was called that.
