The Amaryllis

Let us align ourselves with the amaryllis,
Whose inner vein, blushing lily blood
Is ours.
Let us return to pollen, whose wafted travels,
Curving against our time,
We knew.
Let us join moist throats of birds
Who, knowing no fear,
Sing their lives at ours:
God fishes for us,
Casts in birdsong His appeal to souls.

Let us not fear lily, or air's bright promise,
    or song of bird--
Let us align, return, join with ourselves in the beauty,
Close the circle of His purpose.
