In Times Square, New York City, America,
   a digital counter ennumerates
   Anerica's guns and, a second counter, 
   grim as an impersonal statistic, 
   the deaths.

Each second an electric synapse pops a digit.
   Regular as a child's heart,
Each second will push the next, impatient
   to make public its sign.
