Rare Meat
He
did not like meat cooked rare.
He had said it often and in varied contexts,
Over and over he had said it, and
She was tired of hearing it.
So, when she cooked—which was once every month--
She cooked meat very, very well done.
She cooked meat until the meat’s juices were
gone, and
The meat turned brown, and
The meat's edges, whether it was beef or pork or
lamb,
Curled upwards, declaring that the meat was
done, and
He
appreciated it, ate it, and was glad.
