Bright
Day, Winter Day
Bright day, winter day—
You come and will not return,
Not ever this light will come back,
Not ever will this light stir me to think
The words “heart’s blood” and “marrow.”
Gone will be the power to make the same
Shadows upon my workroom floor, and
Never again will this time and this light be
one.
The light goes through the earth,
Through me, through my thinking of “heart’s
blood” and “marrow,”
Through my workroom, through the whole house,
Through to the moon and the space gracing
creation beyond,
Through to cold outer space.
Is outer space in diamond crystal equilibrium
with inner space?
These are some of the thoughts brought as gift
To me on this bright day, winter day.
“Heart’s blood” and “marrow.”
