The Jumping Spider and the Daffodil

There it was on the yellow daffodil petal,

A jumping spider as big as my thumb,

Its great eyes fixed In its hairy, odd grey-white head.

Looked out in deep indifference.

Its hairy body graced.

I had bent over, ready to capture

The daffodil’s yellow beauty.

The great jumping spider,

Small on the daffodil petal, but

Inviting me into a universe as vast as the Milky Way,

Caught me in is many eyes.
