May Day, 2013

Tightly bound by strong invisible waves and fibers,

Workers around the globe

Sense the gravity of their condition as never before.

Capitalist methods of worker control

Constantly revised and reinvented, and

Using the same invisible waves and fibers

Are ever tightening the bonds of oppression.

On this day set aside to celebrate the workers’ life,

There will be marching and singing, banners and flags, and

Perhaps a shop door, perhaps a bank window

Will be shattered and highly publicized, but

The smashed shop door, the smashed bank window

Are puny signs of workers' sense

Of frustration and outrage.
