I am finished by
half with this task.*
Like all
discipline, the discipline has been good.
Good discipline,
chastening.
Each day bending
my consciousness to the task,
Trying hard to
find something quick and bright,
Or trying hard
to find something graced with joy.
It’s not easy to
find something quick and bright,
Or to find
something graced with joy
In a world where
divine indifference appears
To trump all
high mountains and savory incense
Set up to call
the gods out of their caves of indifference.
