The Summer Moon

Rising a little more to the south than last week

The summer moon gains the sky,

Continuing the great dance:
Tthe earth is turning, ever turning east.

The moon’s role keeps it on its unique path

Ever keeping its one face turned toward earth.

How obedient are the earth and the summer moon,

Dancing in space,

Watched and fed by their brother sun,

Constantly changing yet staying ever the same.

There are no brother clouds tonight.

The summer moon reigns,

Showing a little less of its great face

Than it did last week.
