Missing the Moon

It is earlyJuly.

She will not show her face until near month’s end.

Then she will begin her unveiling,

First a thin sliver, then each night

Coming out later, waxing each night

Until she will be full.

Once full she will begin to cover herself,

Pulling the veil of earth’s shadow,

Slowly, regularly, covering more and more each night

Of her steadfast beauty.
