The Moon’s Return

My sister moon returns,

Turning and returning,

But keeping her friendly, aging face

Lovingly turned toward us.

Yesterday she rose soon after my brother sun

Had run his course.

My brother sun Fuels our turning blue planet, and

Fuels our system of planets, moons,

Birds, Flowers, mountains, oceans, and galaxies.

My sister moon

Comes to soothe and calm,

Playing the tides upon the gentle shore.

Tonight she will rise again,

A crucial part of the orrey in which we live, and

If my brother clouds are kind and stay,

I will try to catch the face of my sister moon.
