Obese Woman in Motorized Shopping Cart

She must have weighed 300 pounds,

The mass of her thighs spilled over the cart’s sides,

Her belly barely fit in the cart’ seat.

She appeared to be about 40.

Her companion was a tall gentleman,

Spry and blessed with a face of compassion.

They moved slowly upon the supermarket floor,

The compassionate companion filling the cart’s basket,

The woman naming what he was to select.

The cart appeared to sag under her weight.

The basket filled as they moved.

I had not the heart or the stomach to look into the cart.
