Time, Decoded

I think that through the haze called aging,

I have decoded time.

I have broken the subtle, clever, and encrypted code

Which has before now baffled me.

I knew from the time of the revelation on the country porch

That time was precious,

That I did not make myself,

That I was dependent on others, etc.

But I did not grasp the significance of the value of moments.

What came to me recently,

Through the haze called aging, was this:

This moment now holding this word that you read,

This moment which held the word as I wrote it,

Is one of many, but the number is finite, and

At some time in the future,

In the haze,

The moments will run out.
