A Sunday in Late Summer

Perhaps tonight,

Perhaps tonight the moon will get clear sailing,

Sailing over my sky toward the west,

Showing its halfness, hiding its halfnes.

Perhaps I will get to aim my telescope,

Aiming , focusing sharply,

Clicking my camera’s shutter,

Capturing the moon,

Capturing the moon’s lighted halfness,

Prompting me to ponder and wonder

About the hidden half.

I will learn from the hidden half—

It will be an icon of the many items
To which I attach belief but cannot see.
