Autumn Comes

Yes, autumn comes.

Summer declines, and

Days shorten,

Nights extend their benevolent province

Over the land.

Leaves fall.

Sap recedes into trunks and roots, and

Geese callings reappear. 

Yes, it is time to harvest,

Time to gather,

Time to begin to wonder

How the long nights will be filled.
