Soup in Winter

Soup is best in winter,

When our civilizing fire skills prompt us

To create warmth in the cold kitchen,

Calling forth what warmth there be

In turnip, cabbage, carrot, onion, and potato.

All this to conjure heat

Into the winter kitchen,

Skillfully marrying vegetable and water,

Adding salt, pepper,

Seasoning the mix

Until the soup changes the whole house

Into a place of shelter.

How advanced is it to make soup in winter.
