Gaudete Sunday

Coming as it does in mid-Advent

This Sunday of rejoicing has evolved,

As wonderful things (hands, eyes, feet) evolve,

Into a splendid sign of the Creator’s tender love.

Without using clumsy words,

You have come this far,

The Creator tells us, and

Now you can pause, review, be encouraged, and

Encouraged by the rose of the Advent candle,

Encouraged by the call to rejoice,

We begin, in our own vague and misty way,

To hear the bells and see the glow,

Ssurrounding the Nativity.
